It has been a long time since State of Decay 3 was announced for the first time, and since then there was not much news or updates. During developers Undead laboratories worked on the continuation this year, a blow was offset as the founder of the studio, Jeff Strain, decided to go in April. Today Strain has revealed his next project: a brand new studio called Possibility Space. However, in the announcement of this news, he also went to the future of the State of Decay series.
In the interview with IGN, Strain says that State of Decay is still on the way to realize its ultimate vision and praises the developers working at the game. He also praises Microsoft for the way it has managed his own studios, including undead labs in recent years.
The vision for State of Decay parent references, over which in 2011 in a FAQ was a complete online world game that will allow thousands of players to run around in a much larger server-based world.
State of Decay always had great ambitions as a series, originally it was a springboard towards, Class4, a code name for a project that should be an online MMO. As Undead Labs continued his development partnership with Microsoft, however, these MMO ambitions and Class4 were never realized.
State of Decay 2 built on the foundation of what Undead Labs began and added Koop. However, it was anything but an MMO. The assumption was that State of Decay 3, supported by Microsoft s full support and financing, now, now, since Union Labs is part of the Xbox Games Studios, the Zombie MMO Class4, which was always intended.
While Undead Labs has not expressed itself to State of Decay 3 or what kind of game it is, Strain has left the company until April of this year, the continuation that is developed for the Xbox Series X | S.
Strain has a story with MMOS and founded the Guild Wars Developer Arenanet in 2000. Undead Labs should originally have this MMO basis. For some reason, however, this vision for State of Decay was pushed back.
Hopefully the third time will be the charm and state of Decay 3 can be the zombie MMO of Undead Labs, which was originally created - or bring us at least another step closer.
